A research team has discovered and photographed the wreckage of Pan American Airways' Clipper Endeavor, which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on April 11, 1952, after experiencing multiple engine failures shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was located approximately 2,000 feet beneath the ocean surface off Puerto Rico's coast using sonar-equipped drone technology. Although all 69 people aboard initially survived the water impact, the rapid sinking of the plane and difficulty locating safety equipment resulted in only 17 survivors from the disaster.
